DUKE UNIVERSITY TIPS QUALIFIERS
Congratulations are in order for our talented 7th graders who have been identified by Duke University as qualifying for the nationally recognized Duke University TIPS program. This long-established program takes aim at identifying academically talented students early on in their educational careers and tracks them throughout middle school and high school. Students are able to take the SAT or ACT test in the 7th grade and participation in this program puts them on college scholarship "watch" lists. In order to qualify, the students had to score in the 95th percentile in a core academic subject on a nationally norm-referenced standardized test, which would be our ITBS test. The following students have earned this distinction:

Lindsey Breneman, Kent Compton, Ashley Myers, Durwood Outlaw, Emily Thach and Hannah Truslow

EDLINE is the online grading portal for grades 3 through 8. Returning parents have the same log in information as before. New parents will be receiving log in instructions by this Friday.

MAGAZINE SALE JUST AROUND THE CORNER
The annual magazine sale will be kicking off in mid-September. All information will be forthcoming. The early notification is so you can remind relatives and friends not to renew their magazine subscriptions through the regular magazine itself. Ask them to wait until our sale and then renew their magazines. Once again this year, people will be able to purchase magazines online and the credit goes to your student's account at our school, so encourage friends and family all over the country to order their magazines through us.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Please watch your Wednesday white envelopes for details of extracurricular activities because they do not all begin at the same time. Karate is starting September 6th. Flag football and volleyball are beginning. Schedules are in the white envelopes for those sports. Chess will be starting around the third week of September. Flyers will be out next week with details about that. We are sending out the information as fast as it is coming in to us.

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY
The school is closed on Monday, September 6th, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
